William Batty was an Inghamite hymn writer and the brother of Christopher Batty. He died in 1788.
Batty contributed 15 hymns to the Kendal Hymn Book (1757). Outside of the Inghamite connection, his best-known compositions include "Content and glad I'll ever be," a hymn on salvation by grace, and "From Salem's gate advancing slow," written for Passiontide.
