Hyde Wyndham Beadon

Anglican clergyman, Canon of Bristol, and co-editor of The Parish Hymn Book who authored several Short Meter hymns.

Hyde Wyndham Beadon was born in 1812 and educated at Eton and St. John's College, Cambridge, graduating B.A. in 1835 and M.A. in 1839. Ordained in 1836, he served as Vicar of Haselbury Plucknett from 1837 and Vicar of Latton, Wiltshire, from 1838, also serving as Honorary Canon of Bristol and Rural Dean.

Beadon was co-editor of The Parish Hymn Book (1863 and 1875) alongside George Phillimore and James Russell Woodford. To this collection he contributed several original Short Meter hymns, including "Fierce was the storm of wind" and "Glory to Thee, O Lord, Who by" (often altered to "All praise to Thee, O Lord").
