In various hymnological collections, several authors used the letter "B." or related initial signatures to denote authorship. In Ash and Evans's Baptist Collection (Bristol, 1st edition, 1769), "B." was used to signify Simon Browne. In Asahel Nettleton's Village Hymns (1824), "B." indicated Mrs. Phoebe Brown. In Hymns and Sacred Songs (Manchester, 1855), "B." stood for the Reverend G. B. Bubier. In W. Garrett Horder's Congregational Hymns (1881), "B." represented the Reverend Stopford A. Brooke. Additionally, "B. B." in Ash and Evans (1769) designated Benjamin Beddome, while "B-d." in later editions of the same collection denoted Anna Lætitia Barbauld. "B. S." in Ash and Evans (1769) represented Benjamin Seward. Finally, "B. T." in The People's Hymnal served as a pseudonym for the Reverend Richard Frederick Littledale, based on the initials of a former address.
