Hymns about Faith

Faith is the hand by which the sinner receives Christ and the life by which the believer walks with God. The Scriptures teach that without faith it is impossible to please Him, and that the just shall live by faith. Biblical faith is not a leap into darkness, but trust in the faithful God who has spoken and acted in Christ. It rests upon the Word, receives the promise of Grace, and looks unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. By faith the elders obtained a good report; by faith the church continues to believe unto righteousness and to confess unto salvation, growing in Trust and Assurance.

Hymns of faith give the congregation language for believing prayer, steadfast confession, and patient waiting. They often recount the sufficiency of Christ, the reliability of God's promises, and the call to walk by faith and not by sight. Such songs strengthen weak knees, rebuke unbelief, and celebrate the gift of believing. Whether sung in triumph or in trembling, they keep the church oriented toward the object of faith rather than toward the strength of the believer.

These hymns fit well in services of preaching the gospel, baptism, communion, and seasons when the people of God need courage to trust. In private devotion they become prayers set to melody, training the heart to lean upon the Lord. Discover in this collection songs that nurture living faith in the finished work and faithful character of God.
