1 min read 4 visits Updated an hour ago Added Sep 15, 2026

Authored by Bishop Christopher Wordsworth of Lincoln, this hymn on the Transfiguration was published in his collection The Holy Year (1862, No. 24) in twelve stanzas of four lines.

In later editions of The Holy Year, the text underwent slight revisions and was renumbered as No. 26, divided into two distinct parts to facilitate liturgical performance. The hymn examines the theological significance of Christ's glory revealed on the mount, connecting the event to His upcoming passion and the future resurrection of believers.
