Composed by Horatius Bonar, this twelve-stanza hymn on heaven was first published in the second series of his Hymns of Faith and Hope (1861). It entered congregational use in works such as Charles Busbridge Snepp's Songs of Grace and Glory (1872), where stanzas two and seven were omitted.
