1 / 2
Written by Sir John Bowring as a short missionary hymn in two stanzas of seven lines, this piece first appeared in his collection Hymns in 1825. Regarded as a composition of notable merit, it was later adopted into Unitarian usage, appearing as Number 10 in Miss Courtauld's Psalms, Hymns and Anthems (London, 1860).
