"Alway in the Lord rejoice" is an Advent hymn by John Samuel Bewley Monsell, composed while in Italy. Based on the Epistle for the Fourth Sunday in Advent, it was first published in his Spiritual Songs (1857) in eight four-line stanzas. While it did not gain traction in Great Britain, an abbreviated selection of stanzas was adopted in the American College Hymnal (New York, 1876).
