"Almighty Father, bless the word" is an anonymous post-sermon hymn in two stanzas. It first appeared in William Augustus Muhlenberg's Church Poetry (Philadelphia, 1823) and was subsequently included as Hymn 39 in the American Prayer Book Collection (1826). Though present in several American hymnals, it did not achieve common use in Great Britain.
