"Almighty Author of my frame" is a hymn of praise by Anne Steele. It was first published as the opening entry in her Poems on Subjects Chiefly Devotional (1760, vol. i, pp. 1–2) in five four-line stanzas, titled "Desiring to praise God."
The text was reprinted in the 1780 edition of her Poems and in Daniel Sedgwick's 1863 reprint. It entered congregational use via John Ash and Caleb Evans's Bristol Baptist Collection of Hymns (1769, No. 40). Its modern usage remains primarily in American hymnals.
