"Adversa mundi tolera" is a Latin hymn on Christian patience authored by Thomas à Kempis. Entitled "Canticum de virtute patientiae" (Song on the Virtue of Patience), the text consists of twenty-nine lines arranged as eleven stanzas.
The hymn was published in the collected edition of his works (Opera), printed at Nuremberg in 1494 (folio 130b).
The full text of twenty-nine lines is included in Philipp Wackernagel's Das deutsche Kirchenlied (Vol. I, No. 377). An abridged text omitting twelve lines was published by Hermann Adalbert Daniel in his Thesaurus Hymnologicus (Vol. II, p. 379) under the heading "Carmen Thomae a Kempis de Patientia Christiana." The hymn also appears in the collections of Josef Bässler (Auswahl alter christlicher Lieder, No. 119) and G. A. von Königsfeld (Lateinische Hymnen und Gesänge, Vol. II, p. 254).
