"Baptized into the name" is a two-stanza baptismal hymn written by Thomas Davis. It was first published as No. 414 in his 1864 collection, Hymns, Old and New, or Church Hymns and Litanies. Though originally written for adult baptism, its themes make it equally suitable for confirmation services. The hymn was included unaltered in the Church of England Sunday School Hymn Book in 1868 and was subsequently reprinted in the American Baptist Hymn Book in 1871.
