Author of faith, we seek Thy face. C. Wesley. [Intercession.] The original hymn appeared in 9 stanzas of 4 lines as No. 64 in vol. ii. of Hymns & Sacred Poems, 1749, and is repeated in the Poetical Works, 1868-72, vol. v. p. 233. The abbreviated form in common use was included by John Wesley in the Wesleyan Hymn Book, 1780, No. 446 (revised edition 458), consisting of stanzas i.-v. and vii. It is found in various collections in Great Britain and America.
