This anonymous hymn on spiritual peace was first introduced by Denham Smith in his collection Times of Refreshing (1860). Composed in four stanzas of eight lines, it was subsequently reprinted in several nineteenth-century collections, including Common Praise (1880) and Hymns for the Church Catholic (1882).
