Written by William Hiley Bathurst in five stanzas of six lines, this hymn on the Second Advent appeared in his volume Metrical Musings (1849, pp. 34–35). It was reprinted unaltered in Charles Busbridge Snepp's Songs of Grace and Glory (1872).
