"Ah, whither flee, or where abide" is a nineteenth-century hymn on spiritual retirement, translated from the German by Catherine Winkworth.

The text was contributed to Orby Shipley's collection Lyra Mystica: Hymns and Verses on Sacred Subjects, Ancient and Modern (1865, p. 263), structured across seven eight-line stanzas. Although Winkworth presented the piece as a translation from a German source, hymnologists at the time were unable to trace the original German hymn from which it was derived.
