All from the sun's uprise

"All from the sun's uprise" is a seventeenth-century metrical paraphrase of Psalm 100 written by English traveler and poet George Sandys. Composed in three eight-line stanzas, the rendering was first published in Sandys's A Paraphrase upon the Psalms of David (1636, 1640) and included in his A Paraphrase upon the Divine Poems (1638, 1640). The work maintained long-standing appreciation in later hymnology, appearing in the 1648 edition of his Psalter, an edition by the Reverend Richard Hooper, and unaltered in James Martineau's collections Hymns for the Christian Church and Home (1840) and Hymns of Praise and Prayer (1873).
