About Fred Pratt Green

Fred Pratt Green

Short Name: Fred Pratt Green
Full Name: Green, Fred Pratt
Birth Year: 1903

Fred Pratt Green was born in 1903 in Liverpool, England. He was a British Methodist minister and hymn writer, whose works are widely included in English-language hymnals and supplements, as well as in some American hymnals and poetry collections.

Green was ordained in the British Methodist ministry and served as pastor and district superintendent in Brighton and York, later ministering in Norwich. He composed hymns that bridged the gap between early twentieth-century hymnody and contemporary styles emerging in the mid-to-late twentieth century.
