The Unveiled Christ
By N. B. Herrell
Lyrics
Was veiled off from human view;
But thro' suffering, death and sorrow
He has rent the veil in two.
O behold the Man of Sorrows,
O behold Him in plain view;
Lo! He is the mighty conqu'ror,
Since He rent the veil in two.
Lo! He is the mighty conqu'ror,
Since He rent the veil in two.
Interceding there for you;
For He is the mighty conqu'ror,
Since He rent the veil in two.
Men of earth give praises due;
For He is the well-belovèd
Since He rent the veil in two.
Heights and depths of love so true;
He alone can be the giver
Since He rent the veil in two.

About This Hymn
N. B. Herrell was a Nazarene minister born in Miami, Indiana, on March 8, 1877. He served as a pastor in Arlington, Virginia, until a heart ailment forced his retirement. Herrell composed both the lyrics and music for “The Unveiled Christ” in 1916, reflecting on the significance of Christ's sacrifice and the tearing of the temple veil, symbolizing the removal of the barrier between humanity and God. The hymn emphasizes Christ's role as the intercessor and the eternal King, inviting all to behold Him and offer praise. It has been included in various hymnals, such as the Seventh-day Adventist Hymnal and Sing Joyfully.
