1. Star of the East, O beautiful star,
That brought the wise men from afar;
Thy wondrous light had been foretold
By prophets and seers of old.

2. It led where Christ in Bethlehem lay,
A mighty Saviour born this day;
Above His lowly bed stood still,
While angels proclaimed “Good-will.”

3. The shepherds saw thy wonderful light,
And came to worship Him by night;
The wise men brought their gifts along,
And seraphs poured forth their song.
