1. To the millions that are lying in darkness,
Heralds of light, speed away,
To the souls that long to hear of the Savior,
Carry the bright gospel ray.
Heralds of light, speed away,
To the souls that long to hear of the Savior,
Carry the bright gospel ray.
Chorus:
Heralds of light, speed away;
Carry the bright gospel ray,
Dark the night of sin,
Let the sunlight in,
Heralds of light, speed away.
Heralds of light, speed away;
Carry the bright gospel ray,
Dark the night of sin,
Let the sunlight in,
Heralds of light, speed away.
2. As you labor for the Lord He is with you,
Walks by your side day by day;
‘Tis His will that you should tell of His mercy,
Carry the bright gospel ray.
Walks by your side day by day;
‘Tis His will that you should tell of His mercy,
Carry the bright gospel ray.
3. If he bids you speak the word to a brother,
Say what He wants you to say;
If He sends you o’er the vale or the mountain,
Carry the bright gospel ray.
Say what He wants you to say;
If He sends you o’er the vale or the mountain,
Carry the bright gospel ray.
4. Tho’ He bids you go for Him o’er the ocean,
You should but trust and obey;
To the heathen who are dwelling in blindness,
Carry the bright gospel ray.
You should but trust and obey;
To the heathen who are dwelling in blindness,
Carry the bright gospel ray.
